This book is a typographical adaptation of Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper, a autobiographical story written in first person, of a woman who goes mad while being kept in a room, day in and day out. The physical type flow of this book highlights the highs and lows of her manic personality throughout her “imprisonment”. The wide margins and hot metal typesetting style allude to the vintage publishing styles of 1892, the year the book was written. The typefaces further reinforce the antiquated stylings of both the author and character’s era and mindsets.
